Bioinformatics
The goal of this Bioinformatics course was to introduce basic techniques of bioinformatics, including sequence manipulation, construction of phylogenetic trees, sequence assembly, BLAST searching, and basic comparative genomics.

Through taking this course, I learned foundational concepts of molecular biology such as replication, transcription, and translation of genetic material. Frankly, this course is not really applicable to my research interests but I appreciated the opportunity to learn how to use UNIX to be a major support tool in manipulating and understanding genetic material.

I believe I will take away the central dogma as new knowledge but unless I am working on sequence manipulation or the construction of phylogenetic trees, then I will not apply this knowledge at this time.
